Who we are
We Are an Anti-Racist World is dedicated to creating an ongoing dialogue geared toward dismantling historical systemic racial injustice and building a new foundation driven by the principle that we ALL must work together to create a world that utilizes our individual and combined strengths and focuses on peace and acceptance for future generations.
WAaAW is on a mission to bring awareness, education, support, and empowerment to others who wish to actively participate in the changes we all need to make for a more just and peaceful global society.
Anti-racist statement
WAaAW was created to personify/exemplify what it means to be an anti-racist household, an anti-racist business, and an anti-racist community through driving policy change so that all racially-defined groups are given the opportunity to live and thrive on equal footing. WAaAW strongly believes that through self-awareness and self-examination as both individuals and as a society, the long-standing nature of racial inequity can be remedied. Through recent (and not so recent) events the scales of racial equity have been moving towards a central point. While we believe it is critical to not forget the tragic events of the past, we realize the active importance of creating anti-racist policies which will equalize and sustain peace and harmony.
As such, WAaAW is committed to building and maintaining an organization which allows all employees, volunteers and participants to work and succeed in an environment free of racial inequity in both policy and practice. We put our employees – our greatest assets – at the forefront of our racial policy momentum. We understand that in order to be effective and make an impact on society, we must continually seek to identify inequalities we may discover within our own foundation and then work to promote inclusivity through honest, humble, and courageous communication. Each of us travels our own path with regard to social justice, and as such, each person is free to make their own choice when there are opportunities to grow. Making change within ourselves and together as a whole can be uncomfortable, but it is through the work we do while sitting with the discomfort that we are liberated. Our endgame is to create a world free of racist attitudes, replacing each with templates of respect, trust and understanding.
